USB-IF released the USB4 V2 specification in October 2022. This version adopts a brand-new PAM3 signal encoding scheme, expanding the bandwidth of USB4 from peer-to-peer 40 Gbps to peer-to-peer 80 Gbps and unequal 120/40 Gbps.

As an upstream high-speed IC manufacturer, the PHY chips showcased by ASMedia this time will become an important part of its USB4 V2 solution in the future, laying the foundation for further improving the USB transmission speed.

ASMedia also previewed that it will exhibit the prototype FPGA platform of its USB4 dock solution at CES 2025.

This dock will support the peer-to-peer 40 Gbps transmission speed, provide USB, HDMI, DP (UHBR20), and wired network ports, and have a power supply capacity of up to 240 watts, and is expected to deliver samples to downstream enterprises within 2025.

In the PCIe field, ASMedia exhibited the PCIe 5.0 PHY chip, which can meet the needs of the traditional and AI server markets for HPC and big data processing, further improving the transmission rate and reducing latency.

The press release mentioned that ASMedia plans to deliver samples of the multi-link PCIe 4.0 packet switch chip at the end of 2024.
