Compared to traditional servers, AI servers have higher peak power and longer high-load working time, and the scale of AI data centers is also larger. This poses a huge challenge to all aspects of the power supply in the AI industry.

According to previous reports by TapTechNews, Elon Musk once predicted that transformers would become the next capacity gap in the AI industry after chips; and large tech companies such as Microsoft have begun to explore using nuclear reactors to directly power AI data centers.

The two server power supplies that Infineon will launch will meet the needs of AI chips from the server side and simplify the power supply design of AI servers.

Both of these power supplies will use a mixture of silicon, gallium nitride, and silicon carbide transistor switches to achieve a high power density of 100 watts per cubic inch and a high conversion efficiency of 97.5%.

According to the information provided on Infineon's official website, REF_8KW_HFHD_PSU will adopt the circuit design of fully digital controlled interleaved bridgeless totem pole PFC combined with full-bridge GaN LLC and will be launched in the first quarter of 2025.

And the future higher-power 12kW power supply will adopt a dual 6kW module combination design and support fully digital control.
