Apple's iOS 18 to Offer Fine-Grained Adaptive Audio Control for AirPods Pro 2

The "adaptive audio" function of AirPods Pro 2 includes features such as adaptive noise reduction, personalized volume, and conversation enhancement, which can automatically adjust the sound and noise reduction effect according to the surrounding environment.
In the past, the "adaptive audio" function could only be switched on and off and could not be adjusted. Thanks to the iOS 18 update, users will be able to set through the "custom adaptive audio" menu, allowing users to adjust the noise reduction intensity according to their needs.
When the AirPods Pro 2 that has been updated to the latest beta firmware is connected to an iPhone running iOS 18, users will see the new "adaptive audio" option in the AirPods section in the settings. After clicking into it, users can adjust the "adaptive audio" function through a slider to set the noise reduction mode to "less noise" or "more noise".
TapTechNews noted that this function is mainly for the "adaptive noise reduction" function, which can mix the ambient sound and the active noise reduction effect according to the dynamic changes of the ambient noise. By allowing users to adjust the noise reduction intensity, it can better adapt to different usage scenarios, such as needing stronger noise reduction on a noisy commute, while the noise reduction intensity can be appropriately reduced in a quiet library environment.
The adjustment of "adaptive audio" will also affect the "personalized volume" function, which will adjust the volume of AirPods Pro 2 according to the user's personal volume preference and the surrounding ambient noise.
These functions will be available to all AirPods Pro 2 users after the official release of iOS 18 this autumn. In addition, the iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia systems will also support this new noise reduction control function of AirPods Pro 2.
