The Finale is a very powerful professional music notation software with high quality, easy to use, and extremely fast to get started, and it is a great helper for music creators.

After the release of the Finale, many competitors also emerged, among which the relatively famous third-party NotatorLogic application was later acquired by Apple and became the current digital audio workstation application LogicPro.

The Dilemma of the Finale Music Notation Software

The president of the MakeMusic development company, Greg Dell'Era, wrote:

I want to be frank. The Finale is currently no longer the future of the notation industry. This is the reality after 35 years. Instead of releasing a new version of the Finale that can only provide negligible value to our users, we have decided to terminate its development.

We have continuously developed the Finale application and have generated millions of lines of code. It is exponentially more difficult to make more improvements than incremental improvements.

Currently, neither the Finale nor its related PrintMusic application can be purchased. Existing users can continue to use the application and can also re-download it before August 25, 2025.
