ByteDance's TikTok Appeals Against US Department of Justice's Accusation

TapTechNews August 16th news, according to a report by Reuters today (August 16th), ByteDance's TikTok told a federal appeals court on Thursday local time that the relevant accusations of the US Department of Justice contained false statements, urging the court to overturn the 'requirement for ByteDance to sell TikTok's US assets' injunction act.

In the appeal documents submitted by TikTok on Thursday this week, it emphasized that TikTok's content recommendation engine and user data are stored on the cloud servers operated by the US Oracle Corporation, and the content review decisions affecting US users are also made in the US.

TapTechNews reported in April this year that the US Senate today passed a bill with an overwhelming majority of 79 votes in favor and 18 votes against, which may lead to TikTok being banned in the US. The bill requires ByteDance to sell TikTok or face an injunction.

The bill, named the 'Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act', will next be submitted to President Joe Biden for signature to become law, and Biden has indicated that he will sign the bill.
