ASUS ROG Ally X Gaming Handheld Specs and Updates
TapTechNews May 23rd news, the tech media Videocardz today released a blog post sharing the specification information of ASUS ROG Ally X gaming handheld, showing it is equipped with 24GB LPDDR5X-7500 memory and a huge 80 watt-hour battery capacity.
The ASUS ROG ally X gaming handheld adopts the same Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU as ROG Ally, which has 8 Zen4 cores and 12 RDNA3 computing units. The device will retain the same 7-inch full HD screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 500 nits.
The biggest change of the ASUS ROG ally X gaming handheld is the battery. The ASUS ROG ally handheld is equipped with a 40 watt-hour battery, while ROG ally X is upgraded to 80 watt-hour, and the capacity is directly doubled.
In addition, Ally X will be equipped with 24GB LPDDR5(X)-7500 memory. The current (2023) model is equipped with 16GB LPDDR5-6400 memory, which means that the X version will increase by 8GB in capacity and have higher bandwidth, which can improve the performance of the integrated graphics.
The weight of the new ASUS handheld computer is 678 grams, which is 70 grams heavier than the previous generation, and the thickness is slightly thicker (36.9 mm vs. 32.4 mm). The ROG XG Mobile port for external GPU has been replaced by a USB4 Type-C port that supports DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery 3.0.

In terms of heat dissipation design, ASUS has upgraded the fan, reducing its size by 23% and the fin thickness by 50%. Despite these changes, the airflow still increases by 10%. ASUS also mentioned that ROG ally is equipped with a precision D-Pad that can be used continuously for 5 million times.
