TapTechNews quoted sources as reporting that a spokesperson for OpenAI revealed that the company is still committed to building AI that benefits everyone, and emphasized that non-profit is the core of its mission and will continue to exist.

OpenAI was established as a non-profit organization in 2015 and mainly relies on funds from donors. In its page explaining the structure, OpenAI stated that it has only raised a total of 130.5 million US dollars in donations over the years and pointed out that this clearly shows that only donations cannot match the cost of computing power and talent required to drive its core research.
