Lenovo to Start Producing AI Servers in India, Open R & D Lab

TapTechNews September 17th news, Lenovo Group announced on Tuesday that it will start producing artificial intelligence (AI) servers at its factory in southern India and open a research and development laboratory focusing on AI servers at the technology center in Bangalore.

Lenovo said its goal is to produce 50,000 AI rack-mounted servers and 2,400 graphics processing unit (GPU) servers annually at its factory in Puducherry, India, which are specifically designed for resource-intensive tasks such as machine learning.

Amar Babu, president of Lenovo Asia Pacific, told Reuters: These servers are not only for local consumption, but also for export. However, he refused to disclose any investment or recruitment goals for the research laboratory or the Puducherry factory. TapTechNews found out through public information that Lenovo is currently already producing products such as notebook computers at the Puducherry factory.
