Kia EV3 New Pure Electric SUV Rolls Off the Line in South Korea
TapTechNews October 7th news, Kia's all-new pure electric SUV - EV3 has officially rolled off the production line at the Gwangmyeong EVO plant in South Korea. This plant is the first manufacturing plant of Hyundai Motor Group dedicated exclusively to the production of electric vehicles, and Kia EV4 will also be put into production in the first half of next year. It is reported that Kia EV3 is expected to be produced domestically by Yueda Kia next year.
Kia EV3 was officially released on May 23rd this year, positioned as a small pure electric SUV. In terms of appearance, EV3 adopts Kia's latest design language, with an inverted L-shaped daytime running light and a longitudinally arranged front lamp group on the front face, and a contrasting color-designed body surround.
EV3 is equipped with a floating roof, black roof luggage rack, rear privacy glass, hidden door handles, two-color wheels and transparent taillight group. In terms of body dimensions, the length, width and height of EV3 are 4300/1850/1560 millimeters (about 169.3/72.8/61.0 inches) respectively, and the wheelbase is 2680 millimeters (about 105.5 inches). In contrast, the domestic similar model BYD Yuan UP has a length, width and height of 4310/1830/1675 millimeters (about 169.7/72.0/66.0 inches) respectively, and the wheelbase is 2620 millimeters (about 103.1 inches).
In terms of interior, the upper part of the center console of Kia EV3 is equipped with an integrated through-screen, and there is a 5.5-inch air conditioning control screen between the instrument panel and the central control screen. EV3 is equipped with Kia's latest in-vehicle system, which supports functions such as online navigation, music playback and vehicle-machine interconnection, and may also add third-party application programs such as in-vehicle WeChat in the future after domestic production.
In terms of configuration, Kia EV3 is equipped with functions such as main driver's seat heating, ventilation and memory functions, steering wheel heating, USB Type-C charging port, 180-watt cigarette lighter interface, front wireless charging, ambient light, Harman Kardon audio, two-color stitched seat, front movable central armrest, and front/rear trunk, etc.
In terms of power, Kia EV3 is based on Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP platform and adopts a 400-volt architecture. The regular version is equipped with a rear single motor with a maximum power of 150 kilowatts and a maximum torque of 283 Newton-meters. The official 0-100 kilometers per hour acceleration time is 7.5 seconds, and the maximum speed is 170 kilometers per hour. In terms of battery, EV3 provides two battery packs of 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh. The latter has a cruising range of 600 kilometers under the WLTP condition. In the fast-charging mode, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% within 31 minutes.
