Foxconn and Yulon's Foxtron Unveils New Electric MPV Model D with Impressive Features
On October 8th, TapTechNews. At today's (October 8th) Hon Hai Technology Day, the Foxtron company, a joint venture between Foxconn and Yulon Motors, showcased and launched the Model D, a brand new electric MPV.
This Model D was designed by Pininfarina (a well-known Italian automotive design company and coachbuilder). Foxconn officially claims it is a revolutionary electric multi-purpose vehicle.
The Model D is 5.13 meters long and 1.99 meters wide, mainly emphasizing connectivity and aerodynamics. It uses a 100-120 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, and its range exceeds 410 miles (about 660 kilometers) in the WLTP test cycle.
After the Model D goes on the market, it is expected to surpass the Peugeot e-5008 (with 98 kWh and a range of 410 miles) and become the electric seven-seater vehicle with the longest range in the market.
The body design contains a variety of holes and folds to improve aerodynamic efficiency, with a drag coefficient of 0.23 Cd. The design of the front grille helps air flow and reduces the frontal area.
The vehicle platform was developed by the ZF chassis module. Foxconn acquired a 50% stake earlier this year. The interior design makes full use of other products of Foxconn. The armchair of the six-seat version is equipped with an iPhone charging pad, and the front seat back has an iPad slot.
Foxconn stated that it will start mass production within two years, but it will not be sold under the name of Foxtron after the official listing.
