Samsung Developing New Galaxy S24FE Smartphone, Possibly Featuring Snapdragon 8 Gen2 Processor

On May 15, according to TapTechNews, there are increasing signs that Samsung is developing a new FanEdition series smartphone. Recently, leaker @tarunvats33 discovered what appears to be Galaxy S24FE's OneUI test firmware on Samsung's server.

The firmware reveals that the international version of Galaxy S24FE has the model number SM-S721B, indicating that Samsung is developing the OneUI system for it. Previously, a similar model SM-F721U device appeared in the database of UK carrier EE, but the 'U' in the model number usually represents the US version, and the reason for its appearance in the UK carrier's database is unclear.

TapTechNews noted that Samsung will hold the next large Unpacked event in July, with the focus expected to be on the upcoming foldable phones Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6. Therefore, the unreleased Galaxy S24FE may not appear at this event in Paris.

Following the release schedule of last year's Galaxy S23FE, Samsung may continue the strategy of releasing a FanEdition series phone every year. If following this practice, the Galaxy S24FE is expected to debut in October this year.

Currently, there is little information about the Galaxy S24FE, but the supply chain news reveals that Samsung has been discussing component supply matters with relevant manufacturers. One focus worth noting is the chip it will feature. Samsung did not release the Exynos 2300 processor last year, making it less likely for the S24FE to directly use the Exynos 2400 processor from the flagship Galaxy S24 series. Therefore, the S24FE is more likely to adopt the Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor, but everything is still waiting for official confirmation.
