Realtek Showcases 5Gbps Switch Platform at Computex Taipei

TapTechNews June 19th news, Realtek showcased a brand-new 5Gbps switch platform at the 2024 Computex Taipei, expected to reduce the price of 5GbE switches to below 100 US dollars (TapTechNews note: currently about 727 Chinese yuan).

The 5GbE four-port switch demonstrated by Realtek consists of 5 key chips, one RTL9303 switch system chip and four RTL8251B 5GbE physical interface (PHY).

In addition, this platform is also matched with other components such as power management integrated circuits to further reduce the price of 5GbE switches. This platform is aimed at homes and small offices and is a simple unmanaged switch with only a few ports, which is very suitable for connecting a small number of systems.

Most of the 5GbE/10GbE switches on the market are enterprise-focused managed switches with more functions and higher prices.

The price of 2.5GbE switches is about 20 US dollars per port, and the 4-port 5GbE switch demonstrated by Realtek aims to reduce the price to below 100 US dollars, which is 25 US dollars per 5GbE port (currently about 182 Chinese yuan).
