Valve Penalizes <em>Counter-Strike 2</em> Players Using SOCD Function on Some Keyboards

TapTechNews August 21st news, earlier this week, Valve started to penalize players of Counter-Strike 2 who use the SOCD function. This function is available on some Razer and Wooting keyboards. If it is detected when playing Counter-Strike 2, the player will be kicked out of the game, and currently, Valve has no plan to ban these players' Steam accounts.

According to TapTechNews' understanding, SOCD allows players to auto strafe, meaning they can move in another direction without releasing the first key. Players can peek out from cover and get out of danger as quickly as possible. For example, when a player presses the A key to move left and then presses the D key without releasing the A key, they can move right immediately. In addition, since the crosshair widens when moving, stopping moving more quickly helps with aiming. The SOCD function enables players to stop moving almost instantly, which can increase the headshot rate.

Razer and Wooting both posted on X, accepting Valve's decision. In addition, Wooting called on SOCD keyboard owners to disable the function when playing Counter-Strike 2.
