Smartphone Sales Trends in 2024 618 in China

TapTechNews on June 25th, according to the official WeChat account of TechInsights, during the 618 event, the second-largest online shopping festival in China in 2024, the sales volume of smartphones decreased by 2% year-on-year to 13.1 million units, but due to the increase in the average selling price, the sales revenue of the smartphone market was almost unchanged year-on-year, reaching 62.3 billion yuan ($9.0 billion).

In terms of sales volume, Apple, Xiaomi, and Honor were the top three smartphone brands in terms of 618 sales this year; in terms of sales revenue, Huawei ranked third, only after Apple and Xiaomi.

Apple reduced the price of the iPhone 15 series by 200-350 US dollars ($1400-2300 yuan) this year and maintained a leading position during the 618 promotion. Apple's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are the most popular models on JD.com.

Xiaomi is the sales/revenue champion of the Android camp on major platforms (JD.com, Tmall, Pinduoduo, Douyin, and Kuaishou). The Redmi K70 became the best-selling model in the 200-299 US dollars ($2000-2999 yuan)细分 market and was second only to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max in the entire market.

Honor ranked third in sales volume, and the X50 dominated in the entry-level market of 100-150 US dollars ($1000-1499 yuan) on JD.com and Tmall, and the Magic V Flip is the best-selling smartphone in the clamshell phone field.

Huawei with its self-developed chip smartphones, five models (Pura 70, Pura 70+, Pura 70 Pro, Mate 60 Pro, Mate 60 Pro+) entered the top ten in the 6000+ yuan细分 market on JD.com.
