TapTechNews, May 11th – Today on Weibo, Zhou Yibao, the product manager for the OPPO Find series, shared a formerly canceled Find product featuring a bar phone with a secondary screen.
The image reveals a vertical triple-camera setup with a large vertical secondary screen on the left side of the device, making it easily recognizable. Zhou disclosed that there were many creative designs and use-cases considered, such as a 'Magic Battery Cover' that could change visuals to match outfits or weather, display lyrics, provide call and message alerts, and even facilitate social interactions.
Regarding why the phone was never launched, Zhou admitted that he struggled with understanding the necessity of the second screen on a bar phone, especially in identifying a user requirement that the primary screen could not fulfill.
Interestingly, OPPO has recently launched vertical foldable phones with sizable secondary screens. Regarding this, Zhou stated, 'The excited inner child finally managed to persuade the reluctant one within, regarding this category.'
Zhou also teased an upcoming story about 'scroll-screen' next week, inviting those interested to stay tuned.
