Google's Android 15/Wear OS 5 Updates with Password Verification Improvements

TapTechNews on May 19th. At the recent Google I/O 2024 developers' conference, Google introduced the improvements in password verification in the recently launched preview version of Android 15/Wear OS 5.

It is reported that previously, when users logged in to applications using the Android native API, the system would first prompt users to select an email address, and then prompt users to select biometric/password login. In the new CredentialsManagerAPI of Android 15/Wear OS 5, the relevant steps are simplified to one step. Now users can directly use biometric to log in to applications.

In addition, Google has also added the function of restoring the Passkey passkey from the cloud. Applications will be able to add users' keys to the local/third-party password credential manager. If the user enables cloud backup, the relevant keys can be synchronized to the user's other devices from the cloud. Currently, the third-party password credential manager supports 1Password and Dashlane.
