Since this year, the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Supervision has filed 58 cases of illegal online live-streaming marketing cases and imposed fines of 2.234 million yuan ($320,000).

At the same time, the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Supervision also announced a batch of typical cases of online live-streaming marketing, involving issues such as illegal advertising, selling unqualified products, and trademark infringement. One of the cases is that a certain men's watch company in Hangzhou is a second-hand luxury goods sales company. In an online live-streaming, a lucky draw activity was carried out for the lucky draw prize of glasses with a marked value of 1,999 yuan ($285), but the party could not provide evidence of the reference value of the glasses, and the purchase voucher provided by it showed that the value of the glasses was 4.85 yuan ($0.70) per pair. In February 2024, the Yuhang District Bureau imposed an administrative penalty of 55,000 yuan ($7,900) on the party in accordance with the law.

Another case shows that a certain clothing company in Hangzhou promoted and sold a certain 'radiofrequency hair growth comb' set product in its online platform live-streaming room and claimed that it has the function of 'hair growth', but could not provide supporting materials; when promoting and selling a certain cheese stick product, it described '10 kilograms (22 pounds) of milk can only produce 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of cheese, so it is the essence of concentrated milk', which does not match the actual raw material ratio of cheese to milk. The above-mentioned behavior of the party violated the relevant provisions of the Advertising Law of the People's Republic of China. In April 2024, the Xiaoshan District Bureau imposed an administrative penalty of 151,700 yuan ($21,700) on the party in accordance with the law.
