JetBrains IDEs Update with New AI Command Generation Feature

TapTechNews August 10th news, JetBrains IDEs released the v2024.2 version update yesterday, focusing on introducing the AI instruction generation function. Users can use the AI Assistant plugin to directly use AI to generate commands in the new terminal in Beta version.

New AI Generated Commands

MacOS users can use the shortcut key ⌘+, and Windows and Linux users can use the Ctrl+ shortcut key to switch to the AI mode, describe the command in natural language, and then submit the request.

The AI Assistant plugin will create the corresponding command based on the user's description and display it in the prompt for immediate execution or further editing.

TapTechNews learned from the report that the AI command generation in the new terminal perceives the context, taking into account the previous commands and their outputs, the operating system and the shell, thereby improving the accuracy of the results.

Prompt Customization

The new terminal also enhances the customized prompt option. Users can access Settings/Preferences -> Tools -> Terminal -> Enable new terminal -> prompt style, and choose single-line and double-line prompt settings, depending on user preferences, which can make more efficient use of space or improve readability.
