China's First 15-Megawatt Heavy-Duty Gas Turbine 'G15' Rolled Off the Line
TapTechNews July 4th news, according to CCTV News, today (July 4th), China's first independently developed 15-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine - G15 was assembled and rolled off the production line in Deyang, Sichuan, providing support for China to accelerate the formation of an independent gas turbine family and optimize the energy structure.
The gas turbine is known as the crown jewel of the equipment manufacturing industry and is widely used in fields such as energy, aerospace, industrial manufacturing, and marine engineering.
This independently developed 15-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine has a thermal efficiency of 35%. Compared to a thermal power generating unit of the same power, it can reduce carbon emissions by more than 150,000 tons per year, and the power generation of a combined cycle for one hour exceeds 22,000 kilowatt-hours, which can meet the daily electricity demand of 2,500 households.
TapTechNews learned from public information that in March 2023, China's first F-class 50-megawatt heavy-duty gas turbine G50 with independent intellectual property rights (hereinafter referred to as G50) was officially put into commercial operation in Qingyuan Power Plant of China Huadian, achieving a breakthrough from 0 to 1 in China's independent heavy-duty gas turbine.
According to Sichuan News, G15 gas turbine is modeled and designed after multiple iterative optimizations based on G50 gas turbine. Structurally, compared to the five cylinders of G50, G15 has one less cylinder, is smaller in size, more complex in structure, and has greater R & D difficulty.
Moreover, the first prototype of China's independently developed 300-megawatt class F-class heavy-duty gas turbine was assembled and rolled off the production line in Shanghai Lingang in February this year. Composed of 5 major systems and over 50,000 parts, it is the first independently developed heavy-duty gas turbine with the highest power and highest technical level, which is an important milestone in the development process of China's independent innovation of heavy-duty gas turbines.
