Vietnam to Provide Subsidies for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

TapTechNews August 13th news, the Vietnamese government issued a statement, planning to provide electricity price subsidies for electric vehicle charging stations to reduce the cost of use and promote the popularization of electric vehicles. This subsidy plan will be submitted to the central government and awaits approval in mid-September.

Vietnam plans to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 and currently has more than 150,000 vehicle charging ports, most of which are held and operated by VinFast (TapTechNews note: A new force in the Vietnamese auto industry, affiliated with Vietnam's largest private enterprise, Vingroup, and became the largest auto seller in Vietnam in just 21 months).

The statement said that Vietnam will ensure that all urban areas have a public electric vehicle charging system and will issue unified technical standards for these stations by the end of this month.

The Vietnamese government stated in the statement that the green energy transition is an important task to achieve the green development goals and fulfill Vietnam's international commitments. According to the statement, Vietnam will formulate other incentive measures in the future to promote the production and import of electric vehicles and encourage consumers to switch to buying and using electric vehicles.
