Samsung Galaxy S25Ultra to Continue Using HP2 Series Sensor

TapTechNews June 9th news. According to blogger @i Ice Universe's recent revelations, the Samsung Galaxy S25Ultra phone will continue to use the HP2 series sensor and become one of the few manufacturers to insist on using the same main camera for three consecutive years.

TapTechNews noticed that Samsung released the 200-million-pixel image sensor ISOCELL HP2 in January 2023. The sensor size is 0.6 microns (μm), adopts an optical format of 1/1.3 inches, and supports the sixteen-in-one pixel technology. The Samsung Galaxy S23Ultra phone released that year was the first to carry this sensor.

Although the specific model of the main camera sensor of the Galaxy S24Ultra has not been announced on Samsung's official website, according to previous revelations, it can be known that it also carries the HP2 series sensor, but the model is upgraded to HP2SX. The specification is still 1/1.3 inches and the pixel size is 0.6 μm, which can be regarded as an optimized version of HP2.

Compared to the stagnation of the main camera specification, the ultra-wide-angle and 3x telephoto lenses of the Galaxy S25Ultra are expected to be upgraded. Blogger @i Ice Universe once exposed some parameters of the new machine's image on May 27th, as follows:

200 MP main camera

50 MP 3x telephoto lens

50 MP 5x telephoto lens

As a comparison, the Galaxy S24Ultra has a 200 MP main camera, a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 10 MP telephoto camera with 3 times optical zoom, and a 50 MP ultra-long focal length camera sensor with 5 times optical zoom.
