North American BMW to Recall 394,029 cars due to driver airbag failures

TapTechNews July 10th news, according to the disclosure of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), due to driver airbag failures, North American BMW Automobile Company will recall a total of 394,029 cars.

NHTSA stated that the airbag inflation devices of these cars have defects and may explode. The explosion of the inflation device may cause sharp metal fragments to hit the driver or other passengers in the car, which may lead to injury or death.

TapTechNews noted that this recall will involve some 3 Series sedans from 2006 to 2011, 3 Series station wagons from 2006 to 2012, and 3 Series sedans from 2009 to 2011. BMW will notify the relevant car owners, and dealers will replace the driver airbag module for these vehicles free of charge.
