Chinese Institute of Electronics and Tencent Launch Doctoral Student Research Incentive Program for Large Model

TapTechNews August 12th news, on August 9th, the Chinese Institute of Electronics jointly initiated with Tencent the Chinese Institute of Electronics - Tencent Doctoral Student Research Incentive Program (Hunyuan Large Model Special Project). This project is for doctoral students who have a strong interest and clear goals in large model research, providing financial and research platform support.

Application conditions

Overseas and domestic doctoral students studying in universities and research institutes affiliated to the Chinese Institute of Electronics who are members, and meet the following conditions, can all apply.

The doctoral graduation time is not earlier than July 2026;

Published papers as the first author (or the supervisor as the first author and the applicant as the second author) in top journals or conferences; or participated as a key member in national-level large-scale scientific research projects of the laboratory or supervisor;

Have a strong interest in innovative research of large models, have produced excellent research results and have explored and attempted in application landing;

Be able to independently propose a clear research direction and have strong innovation, and have the ability to independently design research content and research methods.

Doctoral students who are selected in the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Student Basic Research Project, Tencent Rhino Bird Elite Talent Program, or participate in Tencent joint laboratories and Rhino Bird scientific research projects have priority under the same conditions.

Funding quota and method

No more than 15 people are funded this year.

Amount. Each selected person will receive 100,000 yuan for one year. The funds can be used according to their own plans for large model-related frontier exploration, overseas exchanges and study visits, and research expenditures of relevant partners. The selected person and their supervisor are the co-managers of the fund and are responsible for the planning and use of the fund.

Research resources. The selected person has the opportunity to receive a paid study visit invitation from Tencent and complete the industrial study visit within one year after receiving the invitation, and the study visit time is not less than 3 months. During the study visit, research work can be carried out in combination with the platform and resources provided by the enterprise, and jointly promote the innovative application of cutting-edge research results in real scenarios with senior experts in the enterprise.

Other supports. Can be invited to participate in relevant academic activities held by the Chinese Institute of Electronics and share scientific research results.
