Xiaomi to Integrate Google Gemini in Flagship Devices, OPPO Also Utilizes Google's AI

TapTechNews August 9th news, Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, announced on August 7th that the international version of Xiaomi's flagship devices will access Google's AI large model Google Gemini.

Xiaomi has currently launched its own AI function in domestic models. On July 30th, Xiaomi's Xiao AI classmate 'Large Model Xiao AI' announced a full-scale upgrade, supporting natural question and answer, image editing, out-of-car wake-up defense, etc., covering core category devices.

On August 5th, models such as Xiaomi 14 and Redmi K70 pushed the full AI function of Pengpai OS, including Xiao AI input assistant, AI portrait, AI image search, real-time subtitles, on-device side Xiao AI classmate text-to-image, and on-device side album AI editing, etc.

TapTechNews inquiry learned that the 2024 Google Developer Conference was held in Beijing on August 7th. Bill Jia, vice president of Google CoreML and Google Cloud Engineering, said that Google AI is helping OEM manufacturers create smarter devices.

OPPO has chosen Google's Gemini model and has launched a series of generative AI functions with Google in overseas markets. Firstly, it is the audio and meeting summary function, and Gemini 1.5 Pro provides the Al recording summary function. In addition, the OPPO team developed some functions in the AI toolbox based on Gemini 1.5 Flash and integrated them in the ColorOS smart sidebar for convenient user invocation.

Zhang Zhouchuan, president of OPPO's overseas marketing and service, announced in June this year: As the first mobile phone manufacturer in the industry to introduce generative AI functions into the entire product line, OPPO plans to equip about 50 million users' mobile phones with generative AI functions this year.
