TapTechNews June 5th news, ADATA showcased the early prototype of the Nia gaming handheld at the 2024 Computex Taipei. It is characterized by having upgradable LPCAMM2 memory and its screen can tilt upward, and focuses on community modifications.
In the design aspect of ADATA's XPG Nia gaming handheld, it is equipped with a front-facing webcam and a display that can tilt upward for users to switch viewing angles easily.
One of the features of the XPG Nia handheld is internal support for upgrading and modification. The handheld has an M.2 2230 slot that can be used for reusable solid-state storage by users, and it is also the first handheld to use LPCAMM2 memory, which means you can also disassemble and replace the memory.
ADATA also plans to release 3D design files and pinout information simultaneously after the Nia handheld is launched so that customers can create their own 3D printed cases or other accessories.
ADATA stated that this is to follow the concept of circular computing. In the future, if players don't want to use the handheld anymore, they can also remove the motherboard of the Nia and put it into a new case and use it as a desktop computer, wireless file server, media streamer or other applications.
ADATA is still finalizing the design and specifications of the XPG Nia. Currently, it is soliciting feedback from the community. Whether to prioritize low cost and ship early by using existing processors, or to prioritize next-generation performance (which may mean delaying the release until early next year).
