Renault and WeRide Provide Autonomous Minibus Service at 2024 French Open

TapTechNews learned from the official WeRide account that Renault joined hands with the self-driving company WeRide to provide L4-level autonomous minibus passenger transfer service for the event.

The entire transfer loop line is about 5 kilometers long and takes about 12 minutes in total. The WeRide minibus will take passengers from the P2 Parking pickup point to the Roland Garros stadium. After the game, the WeRide minibus leaves the stadium and goes to the Place de l'Auteuil or returns to the P2 Parking pickup point.

WeRide minibus is equipped with WeRide's fully self-developed autonomous driving software and hardware system, providing autonomous micro-circulation transfer services in multiple scenarios such as urban open roads, large passenger airports, resort centers, and popular tourist scenic areas. It has currently been landed for testing and operation in nearly 30 cities around the world.

WeRide said that their long-term goal with the Renault Group is to cooperate to create a localized version of L4-level autonomous minibus that meets the needs and requirements of the European market.
