BYD Fangchengbao's 'Leopard 5' Sets Guinness World Record for Highest Altitude Reached by Hybrid Vehicle

TapTechNews July 12th news, BYD Fangchengbao announced today that the Leopard 5 has set the Guinness World Record for the highest altitude reached by a hybrid vehicle - 5,980 meters (about 19,616 feet).

As can be seen from the official poster, the car started from Lhasa at an altitude of 3,650 meters (about 11,975 feet), and passed through the Yarlung Zangbo River valley with an altitude of 3,600-4,200 meters (about 11,811-13,780 feet), the 5,566-meter (about 18,261 feet) Samula Pass, and the 5,800-meter (about 19,029 feet) Laqiongla Pass, and finally reached the altitude of 5,980.05 meters (about 19,616 feet).

TapTechNews noticed that the first model of BYD Fangchengbao, the Leopard 5, was launched in November last year, adopting the DMO super hybrid off-road platform, with a starting price of $42,200. The car has a length, width and height of 4890 (including spare tire) * 1970 * 1920 mm (about 192.5 * 77.5 * 75.6 inches), and the wheelbase is 2800 mm (about 110.2 inches).

The car is equipped with a 15.6-inch 2.5K high-definition central control multimedia screen, the main driver uses a 12.3-inch instrument screen, and the co-pilot position is equipped with a 12.3-inch multimedia entertainment screen. At the same time, a large number of physical buttons are also equipped to enhance the practicability and tough design style of the new car. In addition, the Leopard 5 also cooperated with the French high-end audio brand Devialet to equip the new car with up to 18 Devialet speakers.

In terms of power, the Leopard 5 is equipped with BYD's new hybrid platform DMO and the Yunyan-p intelligent body control system, adopting 1.5T + dual-motor power. The comprehensive maximum output can reach 505 kilowatts, the peak torque is 760 N・m, the zero-to-hundred acceleration time is 4.8 seconds, the CLTC pure electric cruising range is 125 kilometers (about 78 miles), and the comprehensive cruising range can reach a maximum of 1200 kilometers (about 746 miles).
