Volkswagen Shifts China's Pure Electric Car R & D to VCTC in Anhui

TapTechNews August 16th news, according to 36Kr Automobile report, Volkswagen has concentrated the research and development of pure electric vehicles in China to Volkswagen (China) Technology Company Limited (abbreviated as VCTC) located in Anhui.

This round of adjustment further integrates the research and development of pure electric vehicles in the Chinese region to VCTC. Along with this adjustment, a large number of personnel will be transferred to VCTC in Anhui or reassigned to other businesses, while the Beijing R & D center retains some hybrid project development.

The three joint venture companies established by Volkswagen in China, Volkswagen Anhui, SAIC Volkswagen, and FAW-Volkswagen, will simultaneously undertake the production and sales work of new cars developed by VCTC.

It is reported that in the future, Volkswagen's pure electric vehicles in China will be concentrated on two pure electric platforms for construction, and both platforms will apply the CEA electronic and electrical architecture jointly developed by VCTC, CARIAD (TapTechNews note: the global software technology and innovation center of the Volkswagen Group) and XPeng Motors:

MEB: A general-purpose pure electric platform created by Volkswagen for global models. New cars built based on the MEB platform will be sold globally, and VCTC will be responsible for the adaptive development of new cars on the MEB platform in China.

CMP: A dedicated platform developed by Volkswagen for the Chinese market, and VCTC will lead the research and development of new cars on this platform.

Internal personnel said: It's just moving Volkswagen's research and development 7000 kilometers eastward, VCTC will become the Wolfsburg in the East (Volkswagen's headquarters is in Wolfsburg, Germany).
