Stellantis to Conduct Layoffs in Michigan and Poland

TapTechNews September 27th news, Stellantis will carry out layoffs in Michigan and Poland, affecting hundreds of workers in both places.

A Stellantis spokesperson said that the company will lay off 500 people at its light commercial vehicle factory in Gliwice, Poland (TapTechNews note: from a three-shift system to a two-shift system) to adapt to the difficult market situation 'intensified' due to the EU's strong transition to electric vehicles.

In addition, the company will also lay off 191 employees at its assembly plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, including 177 temporary employees and 14 junior full-time employees.

This round of layoffs is one of Stellantis' efforts to adapt to the continuously evolving new energy vehicle market, as the EU has stipulated that fuel vehicles will be phased out by 2035.
