ASUS Releases First 'Copilot+PC' Notebook with Snapdragon Chips

TapTechNews May 21, after the end of Microsoft's Build Developer Preview Conference, ASUS today released the first "Copilot+PC" notebook - Vivobook S15 (S5507), equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon XElite and X Plus chips.

ASUS said that this Arm-based chip not only can improve some functions of the current Vivobook, but also enable it to handle AI loads and tasks through the neural processing power of 45 TOPS.

The new Vivobook S15 will adopt the same OLED display as the previous generation of Intel products (15.6 inches, 16:9, 2880x1620, 120Hz refresh rate and 600 nits peak HDR brightness), but this specific version will have a thinner body and display bezel.

S15 can be configured with a 12-core Snapdragon XElite or a 10-core XPlus processor, but the Elite chip will be the base version, that is, the version with slower integrated GPU and no dual-core improvement. TapTechNews attaches relevant pictures as follows:

Both S15 configurations can handle up to 32GB of on-board memory and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage, and are equipped with two USB-A ports, two USB 4.0 Type-C ports, an HDMI 2.1, an audio/microphone combo jack and a microSD card reader, in addition to supporting Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

ASUS has pioneered the proprietary StoryCube application for Vivobook S15, which uses AI to classify, edit, manage and export RAW photo and video files.

ASUS also claims that the NPU function of Snapdragon will accelerate other AI workloads in applications such as Windows Studio Effects and Cocreator.

The ASUS Vivobook S15 with Snapdragon XElite is now available for pre-order at some retailers, but it won't ship until June 18. The 16GB memory and 1TB storage version costs $1399, and the 32GB/1TB version costs $1299.

ASUS has not currently announced the price information of the ASUS Vivobook S15 notebook with Snapdragon XPlus.
