According to the data shown in the latest 2024 Q2 version of the Quarterly Tracking Report Forecast of AR/VR Headset Market released by IDC, In 2024, the total shipments of Chinese AR/VR are expected to be 602,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 17.1%.

IDC said that currently, viewing glasses are still the mainstream product in China. In the second half of the year, the dark horse brand Viture, which is developing overseas, will enter the domestic market, which is expected to bring new changes to the domestic ER glasses pattern.

At the same time, the AI glasses market is rising, and mobile phone manufacturers have begun to make layouts. And AR products equipped with optical screens and SLAM technology will become the next stage after the upgrade of glasses. The overseas VR head manufacturer Meta has also begun to research and layout the AR product line. In the future, VR and AR technologies will continue to merge to form a more unified XR product ecosystem.

The VR&MR market is expected to ship a total of 285,000 units, a year-on-year decrease of 38.6%. Since the second quarter, the VR large-space project has shown explosive growth under the joint promotion of manufacturers, content providers, and policies, and has become the main shipping point in the VR market.

IDC analysis said that currently, the content of domestic large-space projects mostly focuses on cultural tourism history and exploration themes, and there are great breakthroughs in both quantity and quality. And with the entry of Apple, the large-space project has also emerged an MR outdoor space experience using VisonPro in form. In addition, in the MR field, from the end of 2024, there will be more mobile phone manufacturers entering the game and will launch the first product intensively in 2025.
