Netflix Cancels cheapest ad-free subscription plans in UK and Canada

TapTechNews July 4th news, Netflix has started to cancel the cheapest ad-free Basic subscription plan in the UK and Canada. Users either choose the subscription plan with ads downward or choose to buy other more expensive ad-free subscription plans upward.

A Reddit user shared the notice he received: 'July 13th is the last day for you to watch Netflix. Please choose a new plan to continue watching'.

In the case of UK users, Netflix users were informed that the Basic plan (ad-free, £7.99 per month) has ceased service, and users can either choose the Standardwithads plan (with ads, £4.99 per month) or the Standard plan (ad-free, £10.99 per month).

The £10.99 (TapTechNews note: currently about $135) plan includes accessing 1080p streaming media, watching on up to two devices simultaneously, and downloading on up to two devices.

Canadian users have also received a notice of the last viewing day of the basic plan. The price increase in Canada is even greater, from $9.99 of the basic plan to $16.49 of the standard plan; in addition, users can also choose the standard plan with ads ($5.99).
