The Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services Department said on Thursday that they received a report of a cardiac arrest at Tesla's Austin Gigafactory, and then the person was rushed to the hospital and later confirmed dead. The Travis County Sheriff's Office also said that after receiving a report of a 'deceased person', officers were dispatched to the Tesla factory.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has launched an investigation into the incident, and currently there are limited details. The agency also said that it will not share more information until the investigation is completely over.

It is not yet clear whether the deceased is a Tesla employee or a contractor, and the cause of death is unknown. As of TapTechNews' press time, Tesla has not responded to the media's request for comment.

Reports in early April showed that Tesla is the largest private employer in Austin, with approximately 22,777 employees in the Texas capital.
