Microsoft Unveils New Xbox Game Controller 'Proteus' with Enhanced Accessibility Features

Microsoft recently announced improvements to the accessibility features of Xbox games, as well as the launch of a new Xbox accessible game controller called 'Proteus'.

Microsoft has shared detailed information about the Proteus game controller on its XboxWire blog, which is reportedly designed in collaboration with the Xbox and Byowave teams using a 'modular' approach that allows players to customize different components to meet their specific needs.

The Proteus game controller is available for pre-order at $255 USD (approximately 1841 RMB), with a post-launch price of $299 USD (approximately 2159 RMB) and is expected to ship in the fall of 2024.

In addition to the Proteus controller, Microsoft claims to be updating the Xbox adaptive controller to allow for compatibility with more accessories when connected via the USB port. Microsoft did not disclose a specific update timeline, but mentioned that firmware OTA updates will be rolled out to Xbox Insiders in a few weeks, followed by a full release to all users in a few months.
