Great Wall Motor's ASEAN Business Expansion and Future Plans

TapTechNews, June 24 - According to the report in today's Business Times of Singapore, Cheng JinKui, the president of Great Wall Motor's ASEAN business, said in an interview that the group did not achieve full coverage in the ASEAN region until 2023.

Cheng JinKui believes that the company's investment in ASEAN is still at an early stage, and more progress is expected to follow. Currently, Great Wall operates a fully built factory in Thailand, and new factories in Malaysia, Indonesia and Vietnam are expected to start production this year or next year.

Specifically, Great Wall Motor is cooperating with EP Manufacturing in Malaysia to seek to assemble products in the state of Malacca in Malaysia, expected to start production as early as July; the assembly plant in Indonesia is expected to start production in July or August this year; and the Vietnam factory will achieve local assembly in next year.

It is reported that Great Wall Motor is one of the earliest enterprises to enter the Southeast Asian market and one of the Chinese electric vehicle brands with the widest influence in the region.

According to the previous report of TapTechNews, in January this year, Great Wall Motor officially completed the signing of the CKD assembly cooperation with EP Manufacturing Berhad (EPMB), a large manufacturing listed group company in Malaysia, and will officially start assembling and producing Great Wall Motor this year, which indicates that the first CKD (complete knock-down assembly) project of Great Wall Motor in the ASEAN region has been officially launched.
