BYD Wins 160 Electric Bus Orders in Azerbaijan, Expands Global Footprint

TapTechNews July 3rd, BYD Commercial Vehicles' official WeChat account announced today that BYD has recently successfully won the electric bus procurement project of the Azerbaijani government and obtained a sales order of 160 12-meter electric buses K9UD. The first batch is scheduled to start shipping to Azerbaijan in this month.

According to the framework of the agreement, in addition to the order of 160 buses, the Azerbaijani government will also purchase 200 electric buses from BYD every year from 2025 to 2028 and carry out local assembly. In the future, the two sides plan to conduct deeper cooperation in local production.

Note by TapTechNews: The BYD K9UD has dimensions of 12200/2550/3300 mm (length/width/height) and a wheelbase of 5900 mm, with a total weight of 19.5 tons. This vehicle is equipped with 422 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, with a maximum range of 450 kilometers and supports plug-in charging and pantograph charging, equipped with dual 150 kW motors.

Officials from BYD said that as of now, the footprint of BYD commercial vehicles represented by electric buses has spread to more than 70 countries and 400 cities around the world, including Amsterdam in the Netherlands, London in the UK, Tokyo in Japan, and Sao Paulo in Brazil, and has successfully delivered more than 80,000 electric buses to customers.

In October last year, BYD signed an agreement with the Tashkent city government, the capital of Uzbekistan, and the Tashkent city government will purchase 2000 K9UD electric buses from BYD.
