Microsoft Announces KB5044386 Update for Windows 11 in Beta Channel

TapTechNews October 5th news, Microsoft yesterday (October 4th) released a press release, announcing the release of the KB5044386 update for Windows 11 to members of the Windows Insider Program in the Beta channel, and the user version number rises to Build 22635.4300 after installation.

First, Optimization and Improvements (gradually inviting Beta channel users to participate in the test)

1.1, Start Menu

The title of All apps on the Start Menu is now only displayed as All. This change was launched earlier this week with Build 22635.4291.

1.2, Font

A new simplified Chinese font, Simsun-ExtG, is introduced, with a total of 9753 ideographs, covering Unicode extensions G, H, and I, including the Chinese character for Biangbiang noodles that has been highly requested.

Unicode range G30000-3134A (4,939 characters)

Unicode range H31350-323AF (4,192 characters)

Unicode range I2EBF0-2EE5D (622 characters)

This character U+30EDD is considered the most complex Chinese character. TapTechNews attaches the original screenshot as follows. Microsoft said that some applications may not yet be able to display these new extended characters.

1.3, Security

Windows Search runs IFilters in a Low-Privilege Application Container (LPAC). LPAC is similar to an application container but by default denies more permissions. The purpose is to make the processes running in the LPAC only access the resources they need. This model helps minimize the potential damage that could be caused by a compromised process by limiting access to sensitive system components and data.

Second, Fixes (gradually inviting Beta channel users to participate in the test)

2.1, General

Fixes the problem of explorer.exe crashing caused by the recent preview version in the Beta channel.

2.2, File Manager

Fixes a problem where the items in the navigation pane become very spread out for some people (with unexpected padding between each item).

Third, Known Issues

3.1, Start Menu

After installing this version, users may find unexpected spacing between items in the list of all applications in the Start Menu.

3.2, LiveCaptions

If you try to use LiveCaptions after installing this version, it will crash.
