Samsung Displays Launches New 34-inch Ultrawide QD-OLED Panel with Higher Refresh Rate

TapTechNews June 1st news, Samsung Display has produced and launched a brand new 34-inch ultrawide QD-OLED panel this year, with the refresh rate increased from 175 Hz to 240 Hz, and it indicated that the first-generation panel has come to an end.

The 34-inch ultrawide QD-OLED panel from Samsung was first produced in 2022 and was initially equipped on the Alienware AW3423DW monitor with a resolution of 3440 x 1440, a curvature of 1800R, and a refresh rate of 175 Hz. (1 inch = 2.54 cm)

Samsung Display stated in the official press release that the new 240 Hz QD-OLED panel will adopt the same updated pixel structure as the second-generation (produced in 2023) and third-generation (produced in 2024) panels, changing from a rhombic sub-pixel to a larger and more square shape. This change helps to improve text clarity and reduce fringing on these panels.

TapTechNews quoted the tech media tftcentral report that after the actual test using the new panel on the MSI MPG341CQPX monitor, it was found that the arrangement was still the old rhombic sub-pixel.

Samsung Display said that the new panel is produced along with this year's third-generation panel, but without using the new quantum enhancer technology.
