Microsoft Guides Switching Accounts on Windows PC and Resetting Passwords

TapTechNews July 8th news, Microsoft recently released a guide on its official website about how users can switch from a local account to a Microsoft account on Windows PCs. After发布 the guide, the company updated it by adding a chapter on how to migrate a Microsoft account back to a local account. Later Microsoft briefly deleted the relevant part but added it back today.

You can use the Settings app to switch your Microsoft account to a local account.

Important information: Microsoft recommends using a Microsoft account instead of a local account when logging into Windows. Unlike local accounts, using a Microsoft account in Windows allows seamless integration with Microsoft services, enhances security, and enables cross-device synchronization features.

You can select 'Accounts>Your Information' in the Settings app on your Windows device, and then you will see the 'Choose to sign in with a local account' option, and you will only see this button when you are using a Microsoft account.

After that, you can type in the user name, password and password hint. The user name must be different from any other user name on the device; then select Next, then select Sign out and Finish, and you can re-login with your new local account.
