China's Charging Pile Development Quantity, Distribution and Future Outlook

TapTechNews August 15th news, the latest data released by CCTV News shows that as of the end of July, the number of charging piles in China has reached 10.604 million, with a year-on-year growth of 53%. A total of 27,200 charging piles have been cumulatively built in expressway service areas across the country, basically achieving full coverage in all provinces in China.

According to the first-half data released by the National Energy Administration: As of the end of June this year, the total number of charging piles in China has reached 10.244 million, with a year-on-year growth of 54%; among them, there are 3.122 million public piles and 7.122 million private piles. Based on this calculation, China added 360,000 charging piles in July alone.

The National Energy Administration has organized the construction and application promotion of charging infrastructure in some county and township areas. More than one-third of the provinces in the country have laid out charging facilities to all townships, strongly supporting the going to the countryside of new energy vehicles.

The latest data released by the China Charging Alliance shows that a total of 3.209 million public charging piles have been reported by member units in the alliance, including 1.431 million DC charging piles and 1.778 million AC charging piles. In the past year, the monthly average increase of public charging piles is about 83,000.

As of July 2024, the top 15 operators of the charging pile quantity account for 87.1% of the total, and the rest of the operators account for 12.9%. These 15 are as follows:

Star Charge operates 564,000 units

Cloud Quick Charge operates 538,000 units

State Grid operates 196,000 units

Weijing Cloud operates 174,000 units

Xiaoju Charge operates 168,000 units

China Southern Power Grid operates 90,000 units

Shenzhen Che Dian Wang operates 86,000 units

Hui Charge operates 83,000 units

EWE Energy operates 77,000 units

Wancheng Wanchong operates 54,000 units

Blue Fast Charge operates 51,000 units

Junyue Charge 37,000 units

Kunlun Network Power operates 35,000 units

From January to July 2024, the increment of charging infrastructure is 2.008 million, with a year-on-year increase of 16.8%. TapTechNews noticed that the domestic sales volume of new energy vehicles in the same period is 5.934 million, and the charging infrastructure and new energy vehicles continue to grow rapidly. The ratio of pile to vehicle increment is 1:3, and the construction of charging infrastructure can basically meet the rapid development of new energy vehicles.
