Samsung Develops Ultra-Compact All-Solid-State Battery for Wearables

TapTechNews October 2nd news, Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on September 27th that it has developed an ultra-compact all-solid-state battery specifically tailored for wearable devices. This battery is a small oxide-based all-solid-state battery with an energy density of 200 watt-hours per liter.

This battery has achieved an energy density level comparable to that of lithium batteries, while being smaller in size. Samsung Electro-Mechanics is currently promoting this product to customers through prototype evaluation.

All-solid-state batteries use non-flammable solid electrolytes for charging and discharging, enhancing safety and resistance to external impacts, and supporting the design in various shapes. TapTechNews attaches the official picture provided by Samsung Electro-Mechanics as follows:

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has obtained many patents related to oxide all-solid-state batteries and is preparing for product commercialization. The company has applied for more than 40 related patents internationally in the past three years.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is giving priority to the application of all-solid-state batteries in wearable devices and is currently conducting tests with customers.
