BMW to Release 2025 M5 Touring with Impressive Plug-in Hybrid System

TapTechNews August 13th news, BMW will officially release the 2025 M5 Touring on August 15th. Recently, this high-performance station wagon was photographed during a road test, with the degree of camouflage significantly reduced, revealing more details.

TapTechNews noticed that the new car's front face is similar to that of the M5 sedan, adopting a partially closed grille and a familiar headlight design. Below are angular air ducts and aggressive air intakes.

The side of the body is equipped with lightweight wheels, paired with a high-performance braking system (with copper-colored calipers) and Michelin PilotSport tires. In addition, the car also has a hidden door handle, and the charging port indicates that it adopts a plug-in hybrid system. The quadruple exhaust system and the large trunk (with the rear seats folded down, the space can reach 1700 liters) are also clearly visible.

The interior is expected to be basically the same as that of the M5 sedan, including a sports steering wheel, M multifunctional seats and diamond-shaped aluminum trim. In addition, the new car will also be equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch infotainment system.

The most important thing is its plug-in hybrid system. This system is composed of a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission and an integrated electric motor, with a combined output power of up to 727 horsepower and a peak torque of 1000 Newton-meters.

For reference, the four-wheel drive system of the M5 sedan can accelerate to 60 miles per hour (about 96 kilometers per hour) in 3.4 seconds, and the top speed can reach 190 miles per hour (about 306 kilometers per hour) when equipped with the M driving package. In addition, the car is also equipped with a 14.8 kWh battery pack, and the pure electric cruising range is about 25 miles.
