TapTechNews note: The report defines AIPC as desktop and notebook computers that contain dedicated AI workload chipsets or blocks (such as NPUs) and support dedicated to running edge-side AI tasks.

Canalys' chief analyst Ishan Dutt said: This quarter has added significant momentum to the expansion of AIPC. In June, the AIPC with Qualcomm Snapdragon X series chips based on the Arm architecture was officially released. Although the shipment volume is relatively small due to the short supply time and limited geographical coverage, Windows OEM manufacturers have widely committed to including AIPC in their product portfolios, indicating that the category of AIPC has a good prospect. In the x86 field, Intel has accelerated the delivery of Core Ultra chipsets and reported strong sequential performance of its AIPC products. At the same time, AMD announced the Ryzen AI 300 series notebook processors in June.

Specifically, all current Mac products sold by Apple are equipped with M series chips with neural engines, so it has the highest market share currently in terms of shipment volume and product portfolio share of AI-enabled PCs. The release of Apple Intelligence (currently in the developer testing stage in the US) provides clearer guidance for the AI application scenarios of the Mac.

In terms of Windows, the shipment volume of AIPC increased by 127%环比. The performance of some manufacturers is as follows:

Lenovo: Relying on the Yoga Slim 7x and ThinkPad T14s to enter the PC market with Snapdragon X processors for the first time, helping its AIPC share in the total Windows PC shipments increase to about 6%, and the shipment volume of AIPC increased by 228%环比.

HP: By launching the Omnibook X14 and EliteBook Ultra G1 Snapdragon series products and coordinating with its continuously expanding Core Ultra devices, the proportion of AIPC in its Windows PC shipments is about 8%.

Dell: The proportion of AIPC shipment volume in its total Windows PC shipments is slightly lower than 7%, which benefits from its strong influence in the commercial market. Dell launched AIPC covering XPS, Latitude and Inspiron series, but the supply time of these products is inconsistent.

Ishan Dutt added that for PC OEM manufacturers, a key benefit brought by AIPC is to drive the growth of high-end products. In the second quarter of 2024, the shipment volume of Windows PCs priced at $800 (TapTechNews note: currently about 5742 yuan RMB) or above increased by 9%环比, while the shipment volume of AIPC in this price range increased by 126%.
