Android 15 Brings Multiple Improvements to Wireless Audio

TapTechNews June 9th, according to the sammobile website report, with the release of the Android 15 Beta version, Google has brought several improvements to wireless audio functions, including Bluetooth Low Energy Audio (LEAudio).

It is understood that Android 13 already supports Bluetooth LEAudio and spatial audio, but at that time it did not support the combination of Bluetooth LEAudio and dynamic spatial audio, and Android 15 has changed this.

This feature provides a more immersive audio experience when watching content with surround sound. Karthic Veera, the product manager of Android media and cameras, said that the dynamic spatial audio implemented on Bluetooth LEAudio provides lower head tracking latency and better bandwidth utilization, resulting in a more immersive experience. It is expected that this feature will appear on eligible Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets along with the OneUI 7.0 update later this year.

As TapTechNews understands, Bluetooth LEAudio, fully known as Low Energy Audio, is a new generation of Bluetooth low-power audio technology launched by the Bluetooth Technology Alliance (SIG) at the 2020 International Consumer Electronics Show. It inherits the advantages of Bluetooth Low Energy technology and is optimized in audio codec, audio data transmission, and audio control.

In addition, Bluetooth LEAudio has also added support for hearing aids and launched the Auracast broadcast audio function. Google plans to enable the Bluetooth Auracast function in the Android 15 system, which can simultaneously broadcast content to multiple Bluetooth-connected devices.
