Honda's Sales in China Trends, New Models, and Long-Term Plans

In June this year, Honda's cumulative sales of terminal cars in China was 68,966 units; from January to June, Honda's cumulative sales of terminal cars in China was 415,906 units, a year-on-year decrease of 21.5%.

As a contrast, Honda's cumulative sales of terminal cars in China in May was 66,202 units; from January to May, Honda's cumulative sales of terminal cars in China was 346,940 units, a year-on-year decrease of 16.7%.

Honda has been declining since reaching its peak sales in China of 1.627 million units in 2020, and then failed to stop the decline for three consecutive years. In March this year, Honda's new car sales in China dropped significantly by 26.3%, setting the largest year-on-year decline record since July 2023.

It is worth noting that Guangqi Honda announced on June 30 that the Accord Sharp · T-Drive model launched a limited-time direct discount of 50,000 yuan for old car replacement, starting from 147,800 yuan.

Dongfeng Honda also launched a new model - the Liguang e:NS2 coupe, with a total of 4 different configurations, 189,800 - 209,800 yuan ($27,421 - $30,210).

In addition, as previously reported by TapTechNews, Honda China announced a longer-term new energy transformation plan earlier this year: after 2027, Honda will no longer launch new fuel models in China; it is expected that by 2035, all models sold by Honda in China will achieve full electrification, and this full electrification goal is 5 years earlier than the time Honda expects to achieve globally.
