TapTechNews October 8th news, Apple's AppleIntelligence feature is being gradually rolled out, and the first six functions are expected to be released by the end of this month, while a new version of Siri is有望 to officially debut sometime next year. However, some analysts believe that our expectations for Apple's AI may be overly optimistic, and the iPhone providing true AI performance may have to wait until 2026 or 2027.

Apples AppleIntelligence Slow Rollout and Future Outlook_0

Previously, there were rumors that Apple's AppleIntelligence would drive a sales boom for the iPhone 16, as everyone except iPhone 15Pro users would need to upgrade to use the new features. However, for now, the iPhone's sales this year are roughly the same as last year, meaning that people haven't yet regarded AI as an important factor in buying a new phone.

Jefferies analyst Edison Lee is not surprised by this. According to TheStreet report, he believes that the expected 5-10% increase in iPhone sales is unlikely to be achieved.

He believes that Apple has a key advantage over other smartphone brands in terms of AI, but it will take 2-3 years to achieve a substantial boost in demand for new iPhones.

Edison Lee said, We are optimistic about the long-term development of Apple's AppleIntelligence because Apple is the only company that can provide low-cost, personalized AI services using proprietary data through a software-hardware integration. However, the smartphone hardware needs to be redesigned to achieve true AI, which may not happen until 2026/27.

Nonetheless, Edison Lee believes that Apple has a long-term advantage in technology and cost development, especially considering its partnership with chipmaker TSMC. TapTechNews noted that he expects Apple to achieve iPhone sales growth next year, but mainly due to the rumored thinner iPhone 17Air, rather than Apple's AppleIntelligence, and he said, We believe that due to the limitations of high-speed memory and advanced packaging technology, the smartphone technology that supports AI capabilities may still take 2-3 years. But Apple's ultra-thin model (17Air) may attract more upgrade demand in 2025.
