Nokia and Samsung Make New Breakthrough in Communication Technology

TapTechNews August 8th news, according to the official news of Nokia Bell today, Nokia, in collaboration with Samsung Electronics, has once again refreshed the downlink throughput record recently in the Wroclaw laboratory in Poland, achieving a downlink speed of over 6 Gbps using only the centimeter wave band.

According to the introduction, this experiment adopts the 6-carrier aggregation (6CC CA) technology of the Sub-6GHz spectrum, based on the terminal equipment of Samsung Exynos Modem 5400, providing a total bandwidth of 380 MHz including 3 FDD carriers and 3 TDD carriers.

Carrier aggregation is the key to improving throughput and expanding the coverage range of 5G standalone networking (SA) base stations. This means that mobile operators have the opportunity to improve 5G performance, achieve higher throughput and faster data transmission, and expand the coverage range of higher data transmission rates.

TapTechNews noticed that in January 2023, Nokia signed a 5G patent licensing agreement with Samsung, and Samsung pays royalties to Nokia for multiple years starting from January 1, 2023. The agreement covers Nokia's basic patents in 5G and other technologies. Now the cooperation between the two sides has further deepened, and there is a new breakthrough in communication technology.
