5G-A Packages in China High Prices and Rapid Expansion
TapTechNews August 14th news, recently, many local operators have launched 5G-A (5G-Advanced, also known as 5.5G) experience packages, but the prices are all in the triple digits, and the starting monthly fee of the packages launched in some areas has reached 199 yuan, with the highest reaching 399 yuan.
5.5G is a key stage in the evolution from 5G to 6G. Compared to 5G, the new generation of 5.5G technology comprehensively surpasses in terms of rate, delay, connection scale and energy consumption, achieving a 10-fold improvement in network capacity, and is expected to reach the peak rate of 10,000 Mbps downstream and 1,000 Mbps upstream, millisecond-level delay, low-cost hundreds of billions of IoT, as well as space-air integration.
In March this year, China Mobile announced that it would take the lead in promoting the commercial deployment of 5.5G in 100 cities, and would expand to 300 cities within the year.
Subsequently, some local operators began to launch commercial packages of 5.5G. In May this year, Shanghai Mobile launched 4 5.5G experience package plans, including 2 experience packages and 2 experience packages.
The 199-yuan package can enjoy 60 GB of domestic traffic and 1000 minutes of domestic calls per month, and also includes services and rights such as 1000 Mbps broadband, whole-house WiFi, and high-definition TV;
The 299-yuan package can enjoy 100 GB of domestic traffic and 1500 minutes of domestic calls per month, and also includes services and rights such as 1000 Mbps broadband, whole-house WiFi, and high-definition TV.
In June this year, Shanghai Mobile also launched 3 5.5G scenario-based commercial packages, including the speed increase rights, including:
5G-A business travel package: The original price is 80 US dollars, 30 US dollars per month for Global Pass special offer, with a maximum downstream of 3 Gbps and a maximum upstream of 200 Mbps
5G-A live broadcast package: The original price is 60 US dollars, 20 US dollars per month for Global Pass special offer, with a maximum downstream of 2 Gbps and a maximum upstream of 150 Mbps
5G-A game package: The original price is 60 US dollars, 20 US dollars per month for Global Pass special offer, with a maximum downstream of 2 Gbps and a maximum upstream of 150 Mbps
In addition, Sina Technology reported today that Yunnan Mobile has recently launched a 5.5G experience package with a monthly fee as high as 399 yuan, including 150 GB of domestic general traffic + 150 GB of domestic directional traffic, 2000 minutes of domestic voice and video calls.
TapTechNews inquired and learned that on April 22nd, China Mobile Yunnan Company premiered the commercial deployment of 5.5G in Kunming across the province, announcing that 5.5G was officially put into commercial use in 16 cities and prefectures across the province, and has built the largest 5.5G commercial network in the province, and opened the first 5.5G 10,000 Mbps experience business hall in the country in Kunming, marking that Yunnan has officially entered the 5.5G commercial era.
