IBM to Close Chinese R & D Department Affecting Over a Thousand

IBM China said: 'IBM will adjust its operations as needed to provide the best service to customers. These changes will not affect our ability to provide support to customers. Chinese enterprises, especially private enterprises, are increasingly emphasizing seizing the opportunities brought by hybrid cloud and artificial intelligence technologies, and IBM's local strategic focus in China is to use our rich experience in technology and consulting to form teams with corresponding skills to help Chinese customers jointly create solutions that meet their needs.'

TapTechNews noted that previously there were reports that Jack Hergenrother, vice president of IBM's Global Enterprise Systems Development Department, announced at the all-staff meeting of IBM's China System Center (CSL) this morning that IBM infrastructure has decided to transfer the R & D work of the China System Laboratory to other IBM infrastructure bases overseas, and is currently withdrawing all R & D work in China.

It is understood that IBM China has multiple branches, and this adjustment belongs to the IBM China System Center under IBMV, which is mainly responsible for R & D and testing. Employees are distributed in many cities across the country such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Dalian, involving about more than a thousand people.
