Microsoft's New AI Feature 'Recall' for Windows 11 and Its Expansion

TapTechNews May 27th news, Microsoft last week launched new Surface products while also introducing a brand new AI feature for Windows 11, Recall. This feature creates a searchable history of screen activities by taking screenshots regularly, facilitating users to find content they have seen in the past. However, currently this function is only available for Copilot+ computers equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon X series processors.

Good news is that tech enthusiasts have begun to work on getting the Recall function to run on other Windows on ARM devices. A developer named Albacore @thebookisclosed successfully ran the Recall function on a low-end computer equipped only with a Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3 processor and 3.4GB of memory, while Microsoft officially claims that the minimum memory requirement for this function is 16GB.

TapTechNews noted that Albacore pointed out that although the Snapdragon 7c+ Gen3 processor they used lacks the dedicated neural processing unit (NPU) mentioned by Microsoft for this function, the Recall function runs surprisingly well on this machine, and they plan to release a detailed guide soon to allow users of Surface Pro X and other similar ARM devices to also use the Recall function.

For users of traditional x86 architecture processors, it may not be so easy to use the Recall function. However, if the community invests enough effort, there may be hope for this function to run on x86 machines in the future.
